The Course

San Francisco’s first disc golf course is located in Golden Gate Park in Northern California. It is open to the public, there are no tee times, and it is free to play.

A tightly wooded 18-hole course, it’s fun for beginners and a challenge for experts. After a successful 9-hole trial from 2005 until 2007, the course was expanded to to it’s current 18-hole form. The grand opening was on March 31st, 2007.

The Golden Gate Disc Golf Course was built and is maintained completely by volunteers. The SFDGC hosts course work parties from time to time. However, the vast majority of up keep and landscape improvements are done by the Beautification Project (BP), led by Patrick Brown. If you see the BP “bucket” at the first tee, you know what to do.
