Hello Fellow Disc Golfers,
The San Francisco Disc Golf Club is proud to present the 2011 San Francisco Safari in Golden Gate Park, July 23rd & 24th. This is a PDGA sanctioned event and part of the NorCal Series.
This year’s event will be a Pro/Am tournament due in large part to the fact that we will also have the Safari South Course along with our permanent Marx Meadow Course.
Registration for this event is online only through the PDGA’s website.
Registration opens on Monday, May 30th, 2011 at 8pm PST
The cost breakdown per division is as follows:
Open Men (all divisions): $100
Open Women: $75
MA1 / MA2 / Am Masters / Grand Masters: $75
AM Women: $50

Where: Golden Gate Park Disc Golf Course
When: Saturday, 4/16/11, 8-11AM rolling start
Format: One round of 18+ holes
Course Layout: A unique layout of GGDGC with at least one extra basket
Player Package: Guaranteed to be at least the value of your entry fee! Every player will receive an erasable SFDGC custom scorecard, a wicked awesome SFDGC T-Shirt, AND a custom hot stamped Buzzz, Challenger, Hornet, or Nuke!
Rules of Play: Stroke play, Mulligans will be for sale AT REGISTRATION only, $5 each, limited 2 per player. Extra cash goes to divisional payout.
Payout: Cash payout to 3 divisions: Open, AM, and Women (local advanced players should play Open)
Registration: $25 (SFDGC members) or $50 for non-members (includes a 2011 bag tag…$15 off, such a deal!) Day of registration only!
Etc: CTP in Marx Meadow, Ring of Fire, $5 gets you lunch from the incredibly talented Mr. Chris “Bubba” Kennedy, and of course… a Birthday Cake!

Entry fee is $40 and includes Club Membership
for the calendar year, discounts on Club Discs
and your 2011 Bag Tag.
BBQ provided to all following your round.
Then the handing out of the coveted bag tags.

Golden Gate Park Disc Golf Course Work Party
Saturday, December 4th, 8am – til we’re done.
Course will be closed.
Meet at Tee #1.
Lunch will be provided.
Working list of to dos (not expected to do this all in one day):
- chipping
- raking and seeding fairways (See Jon Toby)
- need to fix the net on Tee 11
- erosion control (See Todd)
- – hillside on 5′s fairway needs to be reorganized
- – hillside between 11′s tee and 12′s tee needs
work, something to keep folks from taking the shortcut.
- – 12′s hillside on the right
- fairway design improvements (See Todd)
- – the hip on 7 needs to be built up with obstacles
- – the right side of 9b before the office, i’d like to see
a smaller version of “Jeffrica” over here to bring
this whole closer to its original design.

There will be an official Ace Race at the GGP course on Saturday, Oct. 30th, at 10am (with a rolling start)
$25 gets you two discs, the supercolor mini & Discraft hat. Also included for this year is a sweet die-cast bag tag!!

Format:
Single round of 18+ holes (quantity TBD, ~22), TWO throws per hole per player. All players in the group throw once, then repeat.
Course layout:
Holes are generally between 180 and 250 feet (55 to 75 meters). There will be some temporary tees.
Rules of play:
Players are required to use the player package discs, and only these discs. After all players in the group have thrown, discs are picked up and the group moves directly to the next tee.
The player with the most points after 18 holes is declared the winner (5-2-1).
Prize package:
Grand prize for each event is a Discraft merchandise package, including a bag and ten new discs! There will also be a $5 optional cash pot.

The Golden Gate Park Disc Golf Course will be closed October 1st to 3rd, due to the Hardly Strictly Bluegrass Festival taking place in Speedway and Marx Meadows. Thanks!
It’s that time again! Time for a work party at our beloved Golden Gate Park course!
8am this Saturday, September 18th, please join us to clean, chip, and maintain the GGP course. The party will go all day until we’re done, and as always, lunch will be provided by the club. There is plenty to do, and the more the merrier!
So please try to take some time out of your day to come down and meet your fellow golfers, work on the course, and give something back. Hope to see you all there!
Come on down and get a sneak peak of what is in store for the Safari this year, and help out! We will need all the help we can muster as we work on getting the course looking and playing to the best of it’s ability!
Please make some time to stop by on Saturday. We will be starting around 8am and going until we can’t go anymore! As always, some lunch will be provided. Hope to see you all there this weekend!
