News ArchiveJune 25, 1997Had to replace 7 posts today. Someone keeps taking the ribbons off and leaving the post on the ground. I appreciate the fact that the post stays close, but it would be best if it never came down; so I wrote the following note, and put it on all of the posts I put back up. HELLO,The San Francisco Disc Golf Club is building the first permanent Disc Golf Course in the city of San Francisco; these posts represent our "holes." Our goal is to put in a course that co-exists with all other recreations. If you have been tearing down our posts because you do not understand why they are here, we want to talk. We want to work with you. We want to share this wonderful resource, not take it over or pollute it. Go to: http://www.sfdiscgolf.net for the story of who we are and what we are about. If you do not have web access, or if you would like to meet us in person, we meet every Tuesday at 6:30p at the Julius Kahn Playground. We bring discs for everyone and offer free lessons! We pick up trash. We care for the park. We look out for you, even if you are tearing our posts down. -The San Francisco Disc Golf Club:Dedicated to promoting the sport of disc golf and fostering a sense of community for disc golfers, wherever our sphere of influence might reach. Which reminds me, I moved #18, the ground was too tough to dig very deep, and it was too visible to not be sunk. It plays the same length, but the post is up the hill, you can see it from the tee for #1 I have bought a post-hole digger and some extra red plastic ribbon. Tomorrow I am going to sink three or four posts in the ground before I shoot a round. I am shooting 2 rounds on Sunday, 15 June. One at 10:30am, the other at 1:00pm. Meet at the Julius Kahn Playground for either of them. I would like to remind everyone that even on the windiest day in San Francisco the Presidio is nice and calm because it is sheltered by trees. Reason number 28 to put in baskets =). | |
