The San Francisco Disc Golf Club is a not-for-profit organization dedicated to promoting the sport of disc golf and fostering a sense of community for disc golfers in San Francisco, and wherever our sphere of influence might reach. Every time we play disc golf we are ambassadors for our sport, and we endeavor to promote disc golfing as an environmentally and socially beneficial sport. We prove on a daily basis that disc golf is challenging and rewarding for people from all ages and backgrounds, and that the sport coexists amicably with other recreations in urban parks.
Our primary goal is to build permanent disc golf courses, complete with baskets, in the San Francisco area of Northern California. Recently this hard work paid off when the former 12-hole course in Golden Gate Park was approved for an 18-hole expansion. After months of hard work and planning by club volunteers the San Francisco Disc Golf Club is proud to have opened a world-class 18 hole course that officially opened on March 31st, 2007 and continues to thrill locals and travelers alike.
If you would like to get involved with continued planning and maintenance of the Golden Gate Park course, please check out the forum for the latest work party dates.
The course offically opened on Saturday, March 31st. The opening ceremony of the disc golf course was a great event and the course looked simply stunning. Click here to see Q's describtion of Opening Day. On Sunday April 1st, we kicked off the SFDGC Sunday morning weekly. This is a handicap tournment that starts every Sunday Morning between 8:30am - 10am. This is a great place to meet other golfers and play a causal but competitive round of golf. You can learn more about the weekly here.
In April 2007 the San Francisco Disc Golf Club added a news blog for news headlines and to allow RSS feeds of our latest developments. You may also wish to join our mailing list or visit the forum for more information. You can also contact us at any time for more info.
