Save the Date - 2010 Bag Tag Challenge - Sunday Jan. 10th

Postby snyderman » Wed Dec 02, 2009 9:25 am

The SFDGC 2010 Bag Tag Challenge will held on Sunday Jan. 10Th.

In order to play the BTC you must first renew or become
a Member of the Club. So don't forget your $40.
Of course by becoming a member you will receive discounts on
Club discs plus the funds raised will help to maintain the Marx Meadow
course and help with building a New course in McLaren Park.

Registration will be 8AM - 10:30AM at Marx Meadow.

Once you have registered and have received your scorecard,
get into a group of 4 and go play.
We will be counting Birdies, Bogies and maybe Penalties to
calculate scores to reduce playoffs. So mark your "P's".
If for some reason the rounds play quickly will have a CTP for tie breakers.

Don't forget the BBQ after wards as well.
BEER will be provided by Anderson Brewing Company.

Once we have calculated the scores we will give out the New Bag Tags!

***We are in need of a little help still.***
Can anyone provide some BBQ's to grill on?
The more the merrier so we can get the food out quicker.
Please reply back to me if you can bring one.

So come on out for the BTC. Renew your membership. Play a good round of Golf. Hang out with your fellow Disc Club members and go home with a New Bag Tag!

If you are unable to make the BTC, Bag Tags will be available by signing up for membership on the SFDGC website. This will be activated on Jan 11th. Tags will also be available if someone is selling Discs at the course after Jan.10th.

See you there!

Can we get any advance info on layout tweaks for this year's BTC? Will we see some repeat positions from the 2009 BTC, such as Hole 1 in the tree nest atop the hill, Hole 8 straight-long, Hole 16 down next to the meadow? Extra holes, safari tees?

Bored disc golfers want to know!

I hear the layout will be short. I'm hoping technical doesn't mean poke and hope. My prediction is there will be baskets like the 1D position we played where you can be 5 feet next to the basket with no putt. I'm working on my mobile bloody mary bar cart.

The whole idea behind the once in a life time layout for the BTC will live on through one of our most outstanding club members, Todd Kurnat. They course will be set up for speed of play and over all respect for the course and layout for the BTC. Those of you who think that you will have an easy time of it poking around go ahead and bring the drink cart because it is going to be a long day. Chances are you are going to see a whole new course set up for the BTC that people will be talking about until next year. I know I am still thinking about 3D and 16D from the 2009 BTC.

I birdie told me that team Jenkins might be at this years BTC looking to snatch the #1 tag and take it on tour with them as a sprit/rally tag. Cool idea and all but the #1 tag needs to be won by a local who has the best round of there life on Sunday and goes on to add to the legend and lore of the SFDGC BTC. So everyone get a good nights sleep on Saturday and have a good breakfast on Sunday and bring your A game down to Marx Meadow.

Chew on that for a while flingers!

Hey Joe, funny you should ask about disc sales. I was under the impression that you were going to help out with disc sales on sunday. I was also planning on talking to you about disc sales in the future. I will wait to talk to you in person about that subject in more detail and private.

All the club discs are going to be out for sale that day as it is a fundraiser day for the club and all of it's members. I think that we have just about one of everything that Innova has to offer and if not, I know a guy who knows a guy who sells plastic and I will put you in touch.

See everyone out there on Sunday - go 2010 BTC

Good to read that there are folks as excited as myself for Sunday.

Without giving too much away, I will say that the BTC tradition will remain. As Orion mentioned, its
going to be a layout that folks haven't seen before as a whole. Considering the creative TDs we've had
in the past for BTCs and Weeklies, it wasn't an easy task coming up with something unique. But I feel
confident that this year's layout will carry on the BTC tradition.

For you bored golfers, I'll throw you some scraps...

18 holes, alternate tee pads, additional OB & mandos, safari holes and a new E pin.

It will play tough.

See ya Sunday.

Thanks for putting in the time/effort to give us a fresh layout, Todd. I look forward to experiencing the pain on Sunday

hello fellow flingers,

as most of you know the sfdgc is holding their annual membership
drive this sunday in the form of a tournament. in the current layout,
there are a few holes that could benefit from a spotter/line judge.

so we are in search of 3 volunteers (non-golfers or folks that are not
playing the BTC) to assist with spotting. as a spotter/line judge this
person would keep an eye out for pedestrians, mark where discs
have flown out-of-bounds and direct golfers to their next hole. all
this will help speed of play and keep folks safe from flying discs.

pretty easy stuff.

we would need said volunteer from at least 7am- 12p at which point
we could relieve them with a golfer that has finished their round.
or they could be a real trooper and spot all day, probably til 4p.

they will be rewarded with spending the day in golden gate park,
free beer & bbq and lots of praise for helping out the sfdgc.

if you know of such a person, please have them contact me
via email for further direction.

thank you,

todd
