Next year: Pro and AM weekends

If we don't have a second course by next year, lets try to have two weekends of tourney play in the park by splitting the pros and ams up. I'd love to see a pros only tourney in GGP...

The fall is hard with USDGC, bluegrass festival, Norcal championships, faultline and the shorter days etc. but worth exploring. Another option would be a mid-week pro tournament around the Masters Cup in April/May to catch the touring pros and then Am-only in the traditional August slot.

If we can get a sponser and there's money to be had, they'll be there.

I would love to have two seperate weekends for AM & Pro.

Besides scheduling which is hard enough.
Our expenses will double, for just Permits and toilets we will be looking close
to $3000. Ouch!

Actually it will be close to $4K -$5K with PDGA fees, etc.

If it's done as a charity event you a) get park fees waived and b) greatly increase the chance of getting sponsors. Of course easy for me to say since I don;t really have the time to organize it but if there's ever any hope of pros playing for more than each others' entry fees in SF I think that's the way to go....

If we don't get the temp course, We should do alternate years for pros and ams for the safari. That is pretty equitable. Has there been any progress on this at all in the club? Who's gonna TD?

Why don't we just do tee times and have the tournament be pro/am. We could do fri, sat, sun, and one round a day. That way you could support the large number of players. Hopefully, we could have those extra holes like last year and do it the same way. A day for a, b, and c.

I would love to do that, have Tee times.
The problem is that we could only have a total of 140 players,
So we could only register, say half of the Am field.

Plus the cost to the club increases by close to $1000 for permits and toilets, Pro Fees, etc.

I have never been a TD so I might be totally off on this but if we start tee times at 7:00 A.M we could stagger them every ten minutes and have the last group tee off at 3:10. Hopefully, even if there is a bit of a back up the last group would be able to finish.(That would give the last group roughly 5 hours for the round if we are saying it gets dark around . If we have 50 groups of 4 that is 200 players. The last time the safari was pro/am there was 198 players. I imagine not everyone who wanted to play would get in but tournaments fill up all the time - That's life - get your money in early. As far as the fees go, we could charge a bit more for the entry. I know I would pay more to support a pro/am tournament. If the fees were increased by $5 you have the $1,000 needed if the tournament fills - which it will. Also, I know the 7:00 A.M tee time is an early start but that would support the large amount of players. Thoughts?

P.S - we could also start tee times at 7:30 and have the last group tee off at 2 if we were willing to have 5 to a group. That would still support 200 players.
