The Sunday Morning Weekly

Postby hrc333 » Thu Mar 15, 2007 10:27 pm

The San Francisco Disc Golf Club has an informal handicap league every Sunday morning. The start time is from 8:30am to 10:00am. Entry fees are $5, of which $4 goes to the pot, and $1 goes to the ace pool. Players have to play for 3 weeks to establish their handicap, and only players with a handicap are eligible to win, place or show. (The first two weeks of the season are played straight up.)

In the next couple of weeks we will be posting more information about the handicap system.

This is a great way to meet other club members and to play a round with golfers you do not normally play with.

For any of the weekly folks that get out around 8-8:30 what time are you typically done?  Trying to figure out what the heck I'm going to do once football season starts.

I try to get my round underway no later than about 8:30, and I'm usually walking off of 18 at around 11:30 at the latest, sometimes as quickly as 10:45-11 if the course is set up easy.

We start close to 830 and always are finished by 11 at the latest.

I have an interested in an east coast team (guess who) and I set the Tivo to record and start my round at 8:30.  I am normally done by around 11 and am watching the game by 11:15.  It works perfect so that if I skip commericals and all but the highlights at halftime I am normally caught up to real time by the end of the game.  Then channel flipping for the late games.

Oh....I do love sundays.

Hmmm....good to know.  Was hoping to get out this week but I have a fantasy draft at 10:30 which will cut it pretty tight.  Once the regular season is underway I guess I'll have to go right from the course to the bar to catch my Lions on Sunday mornings.

Greetings,
Coming to town late June on business and have a small window to chuck the plastic on Sunday morning,  June 29.  Glad to see you have weekly singles that morning.  Can out of towners join in? If so, do I understand the initial post stating that we cannot win or place?  I get it for the reason of the ace pot, but if I don't have a handicap established for the obvious reasons, I am just donating $5 to play on Sunday?  I would be glad to donate outside of singles, but would love to compete for scratch too.  Either way, glad to see you have a course now and look forward to playing with you.  Just wanted clarification on that.

You do not have to pay to establish your handicap.  It takes 3 rounds to establish, so you might opt to not pay the first and second round, then pay the 5 bucks when sign up before your 3rd round.  After that day's round, you will have established your handicap and you will have paid, so you're eligible to win.

Worth noting: you cannot win the ace pool if you do not pay, regardless of whether you have a handicap or not.

This has been the subject of some recent discussion...!

if you want to gladly donate a simple 5 Dollars, and hit an Ace you win the Ace pool.  Or you can do like many out of towners do and not pay, the simple 5 Dollars.  Then you will hit the Ace on 11 in the stump, and be brutalized by guilt of not paying the simple 5 Dollars in order to take 200 Dollars home with you.

Having never played your course, I look forward to seeing hole 11 and the rest.  I will gladly pay/donate the 5 clams.  As far as the other guy talking about round 2 and 3,  I will be back in New Mexico by that time.  I'm just really looking forward to playing your course.  Last time I was out there it did not exist.  Thanks for all your hard work!
Do you all have club discs for sale?  If so, I will bring some scratch or use the ace pot winnings to buy some   .
