WORK PARTY: AUGUST 4th & 11th

Postby hrc333 » Tue Jul 17, 2007 9:07 am

We will be having to work parties on Aug. 4th & Aug. 11th to get the course ready for the 2007 SF Safari.  We will be doing some chipping, some cleaning, some hill side reenforcement, etc.

There is a lot of work that needs to be done before the Safari, so come out and lend a hand.

The Course will be closed during the work parties!!!

I can guarantee that hole 12 is the prime target for cleaning. Anyone want to join me in a pre clean by taking a plastic bag out there and filling it up next time you're on the course?

Count me in.  Let's get this rolling...

Post here to commit to taking a trash bag out to hole 12 and filling.

I will do it sometime this week.

Rob, Scott, and I did a load yesterday, and I recommend getting a yard rake for some of the stuff on 12. There's still a ton of trash there, not much of it a result of disc golfers in my opinion. Most of it is actually buried underneath the top layer of sand and is coming up from below. Yuck. Use gloves and be careful of anything suspicious.

Anyone know the best way to clean up cigarette butts?

They put "butt pails" at de La and seems cleaner since.  Hanging under each BENCH. :0

We could also just put a butt can at a hole and have members clean it up once in a while, that doesn't look great but neither do butts on the ground.   Butt of course the best thing is to pack your trash.

Practice basket

Postby arlenk » Sat Jul 28, 2007 7:31 pm

i just came up on a pole that holds the basket into the ground as well as a decent basket (though only one set of chains) that i would be happy to donate to the course for the practice/warm up basket.  i will bring these materials to the work party on august 4th just in case.

ps. We should put up a sign, if there isnt already one, to inform people to pack out their trash, especially cigarette butts

Thanks for the offer.  We actually already own a full Mach 3 practice basket.  On the temp course we use to have it in the ground near the course sign.  Unfortunately the heavy use of this basket saw major erosion problems.

As for a practice basket on the course, we need to get this cleared by the city.  We have a 6 month walk through with the city in September.  This will be one of the items that will be at the top of the list for approval.

I did a few rounds on Wednesday and picked up by hand over 100 butts.

work party lunch

Postby les swift » Fri Aug 10, 2007 10:58 am

Hello all,
Jon Toby has generously offered his culinary skills to provide hot lunch for the work party this Saturday. If you can, please r.s.v.p. so he has a general idea of quantity. We hope to have the course spruced up for the big show next week, so hope to see y'all out there.
Thanks,
Les

Les,
I'll be there. What are we doing specifically? I had the thought that we could get some brooms, cable, and fixtures so that each tee would have sweeping capacity. I'd probably want to confer with you and/or Max prior to any of that...

We will be getting the trail at the box of 12 finished, as many of the pins and paths chipped as we have chips for, general cleanup, sticks and branches for the hillsides.
As far as brooms, I like the idea, but having cables attached leads to it's own set of problems; trip hazards, connecting cables to pads without retaining wall boxes, etc.
We'll have to come up with a solution.
See you tomorrow.

ok, cool enough. It may be just fine to keep the brooms there unattached.

are we going to be using the tees during the safari?

yes, we'll be using all of the new course. Perhaps we can find a deal on some cheapsmall brooms to keep out there.
