A Safari hole is a non-standard hole. Such has extending a hole, creating a new hole or using a alternate tee.

Since the summer season is fast approaching the increase usage of the park by other park users is  going to impact the amount of people walking across the course.
We have to keep in mind that safety is our main concern and alternate layouts can infringe on this. So for the summer we need to keep things fairly standard.

There are ways to have a safe safari. The only hole that was questionable during last week's weekly was the reverse mando on hole 16. Errant throws there could easily go into the meadow. So that probably shouldn't have been played. However, the rest of it was legit: there wasn't a bad shot in the bunch save hole 14C, which is as bad as it gets. TDs should be creative but safe if they're going to implement safari. Remember, the course as is is fine, and it takes a LOT of work to line new islands, OBs, and set mandos.

I believe that hole 18 alternate over the meadow near the road was also something to avoid from a few weeks back.

Scott,
I'll TD the May 18 opening, as it's the only spot I have available for awhile.

Thanks to Jeremiah for offering to TD on 3/28!

We still need volunteers for 3/24 and 3/21....if you have never been TD it is not difficult to do, plus it's free to play that day, plus you get to say hi to all your friends, plus you get to hang out in GGP doing a very needed service for the DG community plus come on...if you play the weekly and have not been TD it's just time to step up and do it. I'll be glad to answer any questions....

I don't play the tournaments so should probably not post here, but here's a thought anyway:
How about the TD gets $10 out of the Ace Pool each week, or just $10 in general, to add incentive to do it. (or some gear or something) Granted that kind of motivation shouldn't really be required.

Or...by playing in the league you are committing to a week of TD and you sign up for that here. If you are not signed up for a week of TD you cannot win any money.

There have been many volunteers that stepped up to TD long before the TD got to play free... I remain convinced that we can continue on with neither positive or negative incentive to TD.

SO! You players of the weekly who haven't TD'ed either ever or for a long time, come on now! We had a no-show a few weeks ago, and I jumped in. Let's see some new names on the "Upcoming TD" list---I don't know how many of the people who I'm addressing here check in to this site, but come on. Show some initiative, give a little back, et cetera and so forth...

Please baby please!
