The NorCal team is usually selected based on points from the NorCal series. The team consists of the top 4-6 people from each division playing head to head match play against your socal counter part. The divisions are open men, open women, open masters, advanced men, advanced women, advanced masters and am2 men, maybe granmasters too. So that makes for a team of about 30-40 people.
You are paired with another Norcal player in your division to go head to head against two socal players...so this makes a foursome. You play 18 hole one of one match play with each hole being a point. After 18, you continue to play 18 more holes doubles match play, best shot dubs. There are 4 points per foursome for the 32 holes. So if you and your Norcal teammate both win your singles and dubs...thats 4 points.
For the past few years the event has been held at Waller Pines in Santa Maria. It is one of the best events I've ever had the pleasure of playing. Cool people, fun competition and great tri tip BBQ. Oh...and NorCal is expected to win....always!
