"Everything should be made as simple as possible, but no simpler" would be a better way of phrasing this statement. If a thing is made as simple as "possible," then that thing has been made most readily understood or accomplished. If that same thing is further simplified, beyond the point of "as simple as possible," then some elemental truth has been compromised to oversimplification.
